On July 11th during the business trip to China the team of the Contemporary museum of calligraphy visited a unique entity- a brush manufacturing factory.
“Wangyiping” factory is located in Huzhou city in Zhejiang province and it is one of the oldest entities in China, operating for more than 280 years.
Xu Jiangfeng – the Head of the factory – warmly welcomed the delegation of the Contemporary museum of calligraphy led by Alexey Shaburov, conducted a tour on the factory territory, museum and showed the production.
Annually the factory manufactures approximately 400 000 brushes of more than 500 types while the production is carried out manually, except the engraving process. Careful monitoring and hard work of the “Wangyiping” factory employees make its production one of the best in China. Thereby the factory is included in the list of objects of intangible heritage of the modern China, and brand “Wangyiping” is in the top 10 Chinese brands. One of the factory’s landmarks is the museum, in which thousands of unique exhibits are gathered from the very first brushes to the collection of the famous Chinese calligraphers. It is noteworthy, that in different times the leaders of China, Hu Jintao, and the current leader – Xi Jinping, while being Acting Governor of the Zhejiang province, visited the factory’s museum.
During the meeting with Xu Jiangfeng, Alexey Shaburov spoke about the upcoming project- the Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting exhibition, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relationship between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation, and taking the opportunity, he invited Xu Jiangfeng to visit the exhibition, which will be held from 20 to 22 September 2019 on the territory of the Exhibition and Convention centre Sokolniki. Mr Xu Jiangfeng expressed his interest in cooperation and promised to prepare special brushes for presenting them at the exhibition.
