On March 8, International Women’s Day, Tianhe District Federation of Literary and Art Circles together with the Women’s Federation of Tianhe District held an exhibition “Warm Spring, Blooming flowers” — the 8th National Women’s Calligraphy Exhibition. 50 works of fan calligraphy by women artists are now on display in the lobby of the ground floor of Building No.1 of Tianhe District Administration.
It is reported that another exhibition of more than a hundred artworks by female calligraphers will open on March 20 in the Yiyuan Art Gallery in Tianhe.
The exhibition of fan calligraphy includes a total of 50 art pieces in various calligraphy scripts featuring small regular script xiaokai, old clerical script guli, lesser seal script xiaozhuan, running-cursive script xingcao, etc. Elegant and graceful, bold and vigorous, or simple and gentle, the artworks show distinct artistic perception and original styles of female calligraphers. Through the unique female point of view, artists show their pursuit of art and at the same time express the artistic spirit of the new generation of female artists and deep thoughts on family and country.
Jin Jijun, Vice-president of the College of Fine Arts at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, member of China Calligraphers Association, and President of Tianhe District Calligraphers Association, presented his calligraphy “Warm spring, blooming flowers” for the exhibition.
The exhibition is the result of the country-wide open call, calligraphers from various regions, as well as calligraphy enthusiasts from all kinds of organizations, every street and every neighborhood created and submitted their works. A total of more than 500 artworks were submitted.
Guangzhou City Calligraphers Association and Tianhe District Calligraphy Association formed a panel of experts, who selected 30 works to receive awards and 111 works for display. On March 8, 50 works of selected fan calligraphy went on display in the ground floor lobby of Building No.1 of Tianhe District Administration. The exhibition will last for 15 days.
It’s worth mentioning that on March 20, 91 vertical-format artworks and 10 art pieces by invited artists will be presented at Yiyuan Art Gallery in Tianhe District. The exhibition will last for 15 days.
It is reported that the “Warm Spring, Blooming Flowers — Female Calligraphers Exhibition” was successfully held eight times and became one of the most distinguishing cultural brand events of Tianhe District. The annual spring event, dedicated to the art of ink and brush, provides communication channels for many female artists and establishes a platform for sharing and exchanging art skills, cultivating body and mind, and learning from the best.
In recent years, female calligraphers of Tianhe District won many awards at provincial, city, and even national professional exhibition contests, becoming an authentic art cavalry unit of the Guangdong calligraphy squadron.
