On the occasion of the seventh Voluntary Services Day of in the field of Chinese literature and art in China, in order to study in depth and implement the ideas of socialism with Chinese characteristics of the new era of Xi Jinping, the Chinese Calligraphers Association is launching a new initiative. The goals of this initiative are also to study the mood of the party of the XIX All-China Congress of the CPC, to fully implement the spirit of congratulations contained in Xi Jinping’s letter on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the All-China Association of Literature and Art, as well as the wish spirit in this letter on the occasion of The Second Congress of Representatives of the China Federation of Volunteer Services, regarding the in-depth study and implementation of the thoughts expressed in the important speech and instructions of the Secretary General Xi Jinping on the prevention and control of the epidemic. These measures should be consistent with the central distribution of the All-China Association of Literature and Art Workers. From May 21 to June 5, the Chinese Calligraphers Association organized calligraphers to conduct volunteer services for this association: members of the association went to people to conduct voluntary events in the field of literature and art on the topic “Literature and art – to all homes. He, you and I will be healthy”, as well as to disseminate information about activities among members of various societies in order to promote relevant events.
Members of various societies of the China Calligrapher Association have actively responded to the call. As of June 9, a total of 19 provincial (municipal) and industry calligraphic associations, including railway, oil and gas and financial sectors, as well as eight calligraphers from Beijing, Henan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hunan, Chongqing, Fujian, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Shandong, Tianjin, Guangxi, Jilin, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Anhui, Xinjiang provinces voluntarily participated in this event. In total, more than 100 offline and online events were organized; more than a thousand calligraphic works were created and donated. Several tens of thousands of people directly or indirectly received services, the event was met with approval from people, created a rich festive atmosphere of the Volunteer Services Day. The China Calligraphers Association invited the director of the China Calligraphers Association Ye Peiguya, the calligrapher of the Society for New Literature and Art Ni Hejun and He Jing to take part in this event through an online recording and through a live broadcast.
In view of the current situation on preventing and combating the epidemic, the form of this event combined online and offline modes, which made it possible to take full advantage of the new media and use the recently created calligraphic societies. The theme of the event is clear, it is closely related to the theme of the active struggle against the epidemic, health protection, with wishes for joy and all the best to ordinary people. Particular attention was paid to medical personnel who were at the forefront of the fight against the epidemic; students who studied at home in connection with the epidemic; ordinary people, as well as people who are at the forefront and helping others. Volunteers went to villages, hospitals and schools, helping a wide range of people in various fields. The help was different: they delivered products, conducted online lessons, helped and advised on the ground, and met the diverse needs of various population groups. Volunteers responded quickly to the requests, the scale of distribution of services and assistance was significant, members of various groups and workers in the field of calligraphy quickly responded to requests, took full advantage of the new media, quickly organized and conducted events, and effectively expanded the scope and influence of the event.
